Gary Coleman originally met Shannon Price in 2007 on the set of Church Ball, a comedy about a church run basketball team. Coleman had one of the starring roles & by all accounts, Price was an extra. According to an ‘Inside Edition’ interview, price proposed to Coleman, who then surprised his love with a mountaintop wedding on her 22nd birthday. The duo wed in Nevada on August 28, 2007, just over a month after Coleman was cited for misdemeanor disorderly conduct stemming from a “heated discussion” with Price. From there, Price seemingly turned her marriage into a business by selling her husband’s memorabilia on eBay. A year after the private ceremony, the two were guests on ‘Divorce Court’, for “help with their marital issues”, although 2008 was the year that their divorce was final. In July 2009, Price found herself booked on suspicion of domestic violence. The two continued residing in the same home post divorce, and according to the Utah Valley regional Medical Center, Coleman never changed his “Advanced Health Care Directive” giving Price the power to make medical decisions in the event that Coleman could not. The latter bit of information came to light this past month in lieu of the former child star’s death.
The death of Gary Coleman has unearthed some interesting items as well as caused a frenzy of emotions regarding Shannon Price. Let us begin with the police report. According to Officer K Johnson (one of the first to arrive) Price met him at the door & led him and the other first responders to the basement where Coleman laid on the floor with a towel under his bleeding head. Price did not go to her mate due to her not wanting to ‘see the blood on the floor”. Johnson stated that he was able to speak with Coleman, although the former star had no recollection as to how he had injured his head. The official statement taken from Price is that the two were in bed and she asked him to go downstairs and “fix her some food”. (Now let us backtrack to her account during the 911 call where she gave the following accounts: 1. Gary had just come home and I asked him to get me something to eat. 2. She sent him to the basement to get something for her). On the day of the incident, Coleman was able to walk, assisted, to the ambulance. Two days after the incident, Coleman passed away after the decision was made, via Price, to terminate life.
During the last hours of Coleman’s life, Price posed for pictures alongside his bed as he was amidst a sea of tubes. As of today, the pictures have been sold (to a yet to be named) tabloid, in which Price will receive a portion of the profits for the sale due to her orchestrating the deal. Hours after his death, Price was seen smiling and posing for pictures with Shielia Erikson (an agent that worked for both Price & Coleman). Moments after the giggly pair was photographer the former Mrs. Coleman sat down for an interview “to get her side of the story out”. Throughout the interview, she consistently brought up the amount of money that has been spent on her during the course of their union. She commented on the various times the two vacationed in Vegas (where she loved to shop and be pampered) as well as the fact that Coleman had purchased a car for her. Price did also make a, numb, plea to his fans so that the funeral costs could be covered. She stated that she basically had nothing right now due to Coleman not working lately and she (briefly) alluded to the fact that he was uninsurable due to his life-long renal condition. (Let’s not forget her eBay endeavor….where is that money?) There was no emotion in her voice or on her face during the entirety of the interview. Price stated that she was affected by public scrutiny, but never made any comment regarding Coleman’s death truly affecting her. Price did make an attempt to dispel rumors that she pushed her mate from a latter, by stating that she was upstairs and that he was downstairs.
I highly doubt if this sage has ended.
